The Hampton Classic Dinner Table Arrangement by The Bridgehampton Florist
The Idea Board for The Bridgehampton Florist table at the Hampton Classic Grand Prix was featured in my last post. Today, you'll see how it all turned out. Harry and Barbara Ludlow grow the most amazing heirloom tomatoes at their Fairview Farm on Mecox Road in Bridgehampton. Heirlooms are renowned for their taste but it's their wonderful colors that inspire me. I found some wild grape vines growing in our hedge and they formed the base for the largest of Harry and Barbara's heirlooms. Next, I added some smaller heirlooms and finished with Cherry Tomatoes in a variety of amazing colors. Even the flowers came from the Ludlow's Farm Stand making this truly a " local " table. And in case you're wondering what happened to all those tomatoes after the party was over, just take a look at this bountiful collection of home preserved tomatoes of every description. Our dear, sweet friend, Monte Mathews, made everything from Cherry Tomatoes in tomato juice to a wonderful Heirloom Tomato soup, pictured here. He'll be featuring the recipe and his take on the Hampton Classic in his wonderful blog www.chewingthefat.us.com later this week. Be sure to visit it!
